Hi there! I’m T Simple. Obviously not my real name, but for now keeping that part under wraps (although many of you know my real name from my previous blog-shhh!)
You know how you hear stories of people who had some magical epiphany, or rock bottom moment that make them change the course of their life in profound ways?
Well, I am not one of those people.
Yeah, it makes for a great story, but I just have a pretty normal, average life (sans a mortgage, husband, or kids).
Sure, I’ve had my struggles, ups and downs, and triumphs and tragedies, but there was nothing profound that made me want to start this blog, and a simple living journey.
It simply (see what I did there?), is about me just trying to re-wire my type-A brain to live a more calm, peaceful, and uncomplicated life.
You see I’ve done complicated before — and I’ve done it spectacularly!
I’ve made mountains out of molehills, stayed in deeply passionate, albeit short, relationships much longer than I needed to, and worried about somany things that never came to fruition. Truth be told, I was a bit of a drama queen. OK, there might be a tiny part of me that still is. Baby steps.
As I get older though, I’m slowly untangling the messes I’ve made with my own emotions, and I’m doing this while living a “normal” life. Meaning I have a 9-5 job, bills, a sick cat, and I don’t live in a (converted) van (down by the river or elsewhere).
Sure the idea of living off the grid seems like it could be interesting (for about 4 hours), as well as only owning 33 things and being able to fit all my belongings into one small backpack (does the cat count as 1?) and travel the world whenever, but I’m still a practical gal living with practical things, like a TV and iPhone. Heck, I’m not even really a fan of yoga and I’m the furthest thing from being a vegan (although I do try to live a healthy life). And I could even be better at recycling!
The trick I think is being able to live a simple, peaceful, calm life, when your average run-of-the-mill stuff happens to you, like your car breaks down or you have a monumentally bad day at work.
That’s my goal. That’s the philosophy behind Seeking Simple, and I hope you’ll come along for the ride. While you’re at it, follow my new Twitter account!
